Jèma

2007 Salento Primitivo

L'astore Masseria Jèma is a remarkable 2007 Primitivo from the picturesque Salento region of Italy. This full-bodied red wine captivates the senses with its deep ruby color and enticing aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, and hints of baking spices. On the palate, it showcases a well-integrated balance of vibrant acidity, providing a mouthwatering lift to the rich fruit flavors. The tannins are notably firm, contributing to the wine's structure and longevity. As you savor each sip, you'll appreciate the wine's dry character, which complements its bold fruit intensity, making it an exceptional choice for pairing with grilled meats or hearty pasta dishes.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
